Our trips are graded to help you choose one that suits your experience and fitness level. Trip leaders will also assess the skills of participants before a trip to ensure suitability.
If you have never tried cross-country skiing before, please start with the Beginners Weekend trip.
Easy
Suitable for beginners, including those new to cross‑country skiing. Activities take place on groomed trails with gentle terrain. Instruction may be available depending on the group and conditions. Some activities on an Easy event (eg longer tours) can be unsuitable for complete beginners.
Medium
Some prior experience required. You should be comfortable with basic snow plough turns and stopping. Trips may include steeper slopes, backcountry travel, or varied terrain.
Hard
Designed for experienced and physically fit skiers. Expect long distances (up to 20 km per day), off‑trail travel, and steep terrain. Carrying a heavy pack may be required.
Downhill skiers and boarders
While the primary activity of the club is cross country skiing, downhillers who wish to try cross country are welcome. If you have substantial downhill experience, you should be able to attend easy and medium grade activities. A number of cross country skiers in the club also regularly ski or board at downhill resorts, including sometimes during club weekends.
**New members and visitors are welcome. Please ensure your ability levels match the grading of the trip. If you are unsure which level is suitable, please contact the Trip Leader before booking. The Leader may decline attendees depending on skills and experience. Complete beginners should start with the Beginners weekend.**
